Major cryptocurrency exchange Bybit has officially relaunched its services in the United Kingdom on December 19, 2025, after a two-year hiatus.
This step reflects the firm’s adaptation to the UK’s strict regulatory environment.
UK users now have access to more trading options and liquidity in digital assets.
The relaunch highlights how global cryptocurrency exchanges can meet local rules while expanding reach.
Exit Driven by FCA Rules
Bybit suspended UK services on September 22, 2023, in response to new Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) rules on crypto-asset promotions.
These rules, effective October 8, 2023, required stricter standards for marketing and operations.
The firm halted deposits and new positions to comply. This exit was part of a broader industry response to the FCA’s push for investor protection.
Partnership Enables Compliant Return
To re-enter the market, Bybit partnered with Archax, an FCA-authorized digital asset firm based in London.
Archax holds FCA registration for cryptoasset activities, including as a multilateral trading facility since August 2020.
This collaboration ensures Bybit’s promotions and services follow FCA guidelines on financial promotions.
Such partnerships have become common for international exchanges seeking UK operations.
Available Services and Security Measures
The relaunched platform offers spot trading on over 100 cryptocurrency pairs and peer-to-peer (P2P) trading.
Bybit has not included complex derivatives at launch to align with current regulations.
To build trust, the firm applies rigorous Know Your Customer (KYC) and anti-money laundering (AML) standards.
These measures aim to prevent fraud and maintain platform security, meeting FCA requirements for user protection.
Implications for UK Crypto Sector
Bybit’s return signals maturity in the UK crypto market. It shows that firms can adapt to regulations, viewing the region as a valuable hub.
This could prompt other exchanges to pursue similar compliance paths, increasing competition.
As the FCA refines its oversight of digital assets, such developments support a balanced approach to growth and safety.
