Social trading platform eToro has launched crypto staking for U.S. customers, opening rewards on Ethereum, Cardano, and Solana. The company said the feature went live on September 29, 2025, and will add more assets over time. Users can earn monthly rewards while keeping control of their holdings on platform.
U.S. availability reflects a phased approach. eToro lists a group of restricted states and territories where staking is not currently offered, citing regulatory requirements. The list includes California, Hawaii, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Washington, and Wisconsin.
How eToro crypto staking works and who can participate
eToro says Cardano and Solana holders are automatically enrolled, while Ethereum holders must opt in from account settings. Rewards accrue monthly. The company frames the experience as simplified custody, with staking handled on the back end and users able to opt out at any time. The help center outlines staking mechanics and eligibility for U.S. accounts.
The company’s broader materials describe monthly distributions tied to eToro Club tiers, where a share of the protocol yield is passed to customers. Those materials list reward shares ranging from 45 percent for Bronze to 90 percent for Diamond, although the U.S. launch release does not restate the exact splits.
Timeline from August 12 to September 29
On August 12, eToro told U.S. users it would “soon launch staking,” alongside an expansion to more than 100 listed cryptoassets. That update also warned staking would not be available in all states.
The company followed through on September 29 with the formal U.S. launch and details on automatic enrollment for ADA and SOL and opt-in for ETH. Independent coverage reached similar conclusions on assets and timing.
Where this fits in a shifting market
Staking has drawn new institutional interest this year. Canary Capital amended its spot Solana ETF filing to include staking, naming Marinade Select as exclusive provider in an updated S-1. For U.S. taxpayers, the IRS says staking rewards are income when the user gains dominion and control over the tokens.
What comes next: eToro says it will evaluate adding more proof-of-stake assets after the initial launch. Users can check eligibility and state-level coverage in the U.S. help center and should review tax guidance before year-end.
