UK AI infra firm Nscale says it has signed an expanded agreement with Microsoft to deliver about 200,000 Nvidia GB300 GPUs for next-gen Azure capacity across Europe and the U.S..
Financial terms weren’t disclosed, but reporting pegs potential revenue up to $14 billion for Nscale based on comparable contracts, underscoring the deal’s scale.
Where the GPUs are going
Initial deliveries begin in 2026 from sites in Texas and Portugal, with 104,000 GPUs at a Texas facility and 12,600 in Portugal, according to detailed coverage. In Portugal, Start Campus (Sines) says the first EU deployment will go live by Q1 2026 in support of Microsoft.
The agreement builds on Nscale’s Norway partnership with Aker for Azure capacity from a hyperscale campus in Narvik, a prior multi-year customer deal covering 52,000 Nvidia chips alongside “Stargate Norway”, which targets 100,000 GPUs by end-2026.
Hardware: Blackwell-class at rack scale
Microsoft has already introduced the NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 supercluster on Azure for frontier workloads, a clue to the class of liquid-cooled, rack-scale systems expected across these builds.
UK footprint and “sovereign” capacity
This expansion follows Microsoft’s September 16 pledge to build the UK’s largest supercomputer—more than 23,000 Nvidia GPUs—in partnership with Nscale, as part of a wider UK AI investment package. Nscale adds that its Loughton AI Campus is planned at 50MW (scalable to 90MW) with 23,040 GB300 GPUs from Q1 2027.
Nscale’s rise
Nscale launched from stealth in May 2024 and has since raised $1.1 billion (Series B) plus a $433 million pre-Series C SAFE, with Aker acquiring a stake and Nvidia backing the company as it scales. FT also notes Nscale was spun out from an Australian Bitcoin miner as it pivoted to AI data centers.
