From 550 Kilometers to a Lower Orbit
The Starlink satellites are currently orbiting at an average height of 550 kilometers. This will be reduced to an average height of 480 kilometers.
This particular orbit has higher levels of drag, although claims that it is less congested have not been confirmed due to the lack of detailed information being relayed from orbital tracking reports and FCC filings regarding debris.
Instead, Starlink will move lower in order to minimize the chances of collisions while maintaining the same ground network performance.
